The Toronto Labour Day Open will be held this year on the September 5 to 7 weekend at the Tartu College site, at Bloor and Madison, 1 block east of the Spadina subway.

Rounds are 10AM and 4PM each day. There is plenty of parking with lots of inexpensive restaurants nearby.

Time controls are 30/90, with s/death in 1 more hour. Based on 120 entries, the prizes will be:
    Open section, $1000-800-600-500; under 2200, $500-400-300.
    Under 2000 section, $500-400-300, with <1800, $300-200-100.

Bring your own pieces and clocks (boards are supplied). Entry fees are $80 for the Open and $60 for the under 2000 section. CFC fees are required; they are $43 for adults and $27 for juniors under the age of 18.

See you there! Send advance entries to Peter Bokhout at pbokhout@rogers.com.

All fees, in cash, will be taken at 9:30AM on Saturday. No money, no play!

Re: Toronto Labour Day Open, 2009

I thought Bryan Lamb was running Labour Day and Thanksgiving Open at Macedonian Hall on Overlea.
I picked up his flyers at Hart House July 5.

You will get a low turn out at Tartu. Very few players like that location.

I hope you have not created the split in Toronto Chess Again.

I'll be going to Macedonian if it is still on. I have better results there than Tartu
If Macedonian is canceled then I guess I'll have to go to Tartu at least Madisons Pub has great food right across the road.
