TEAMS: 4 players from the same school. TOURNAMENT: divided into 4 sections.
ENTRY FEES:
1) BEFORE 24 MAY: $60 for 1st team, $56 for 2nd team; $52 each additional team.
2) AFTER 24 MAY: $64 for 1st team, $60 for 2nd team; $56 each additional team.
All teams must be from the same school. Please make cheque payable to: Chess’n Math Association.
Upon registration, each team will be sent a confirmation and information package detailing rules and procedures by email.
SECTIONS:
- 1 Reserved for students from Kindergarten to grade 3. In other words, team members must not be higher than grade 3 students.
- 2 Reserved for students from Kindergarten to grade 6. In other words, team members can be from any grade up to grade 6.
- 3 Reserved for students from Kindergarten to grade 9. STUDENTS MUST GO TO THE SAME SCHOOL.
- 4 Reserved for students from Kindergarten to grade 12. STUDENTS MUST GO TO THE SAME SCHOOL.
SYSTEM:
This is a 5-round team tournament - 4 players on a team. Best player on board #1, next on board #2, etc. Board order need not be according to CMA rating, but once board order is set it must not be changed for the rest of the tournament.
NOTE:
A player is awarded 1 point for a win, ½ point for a draw, 0 for a loss. All player totals determine the team result. This is Ontario’s most popular event. Each team should have a distinct name. Please ensure that students know their team name.
PRIZES:
Plaques will be awarded to the winning teams in each section and their school.
