12th RCAF Fighter Control Operators, Air Defence Techs, Air Weapons Controllers, and Aerospace Controllers Reunion (FAAAR).
Join us for a fun 1 day - 5 round - 30 min sudden death - tournament organized as one of several events taking place at the Sheraton Toronto Airport Hotel as air force veterans from across Canada gather for their reunion.
Entry Fee: $25 in advance for all players. $30 on Sunday.
Where: MacIntosh Room, Sheraton Toronto Airport Hotel & Conference Centre, 801 Dixon Rd.
Round Times: Sunday Aug 26 10:00am, 11:20am, 12:40pm, 2:00pm, 3:20pm
Style: 5 Round Swiss Time Control: 30 mins - sudden death.
Prizes: Trophies/medallions to the top three finishers, 4:30pm presentation by air force veteran
Other Info: Chess sets and clocks provided, participants also encouraged to bring their sets and clocks.
Coffee, snacks and light refreshments will be provided.
10:00 Freshly brewed Starbucks® coffee and an assortment of Tazo® teas, fresh sliced melons, Greek yogurt and local honey dip, dried fruit and nut trail mix and fruit flavoured vitamin water.
13:45 Freshly brewed Starbucks® coffee and an assortment of Tazo® teas, fresh garden vegetable crudités with hummus and buttermilk ranch dip, grilled pita points with babaganoush,Nature Valley® granola bars and vitamin water
Parking is $10 at the Sheraton parking lot, additional parking available $6 (7am to 7pm) across the street at 130 Attwell Dr Etobicoke, ON M9W 6A9
Arrive early and enjoy a Sheraton buffet breakfast in the Ambrosia room 8-10am $10 (with chess registration)
Ken Robinson, candidate master from North Bay, is expected to be on site for teaching and game analysis Saturday and Sunday. Chess room available to registered players on Saturday for informal games and fun.
