The reporters after the game congratulated Ding Liren in unison on winning this match and setting a new rating record. Ding expressed this satisfaction with the performance: "Today's game was a more mainstream Catalan. Due to an injury received at the Norway Tournament, I did not play chess for two months, so winning the match, proving myself and breaking 2800 was very satisfying.”"

Ding Liren's rating has come an unprecedented 2804.2, a new record and he has extended his unbeaten record.

This note from 2700 chess.com after the first game of the match:

Ding (2801.3) becomes the 14th player in chess history with a live rating of over 2800. He remains unbeaten since 9 Aug 2017 and after 79 classical games. All this after his first game (win with Black) in his match vs Topalov.
