We have finally finalized the details for the 2nd annual 2019 Oakville Winter Open TOURNAMENT PRIZES – Score Based Prizes

Location & Dates

When: Friday, January 25th – Sunday, January 27th, 2019
Where: Holiday Inn, Oakville Centre, 590 Argus Road, Oakville, Ontario

Format
Type: 5 Round Swiss. CFC rated & FIDE rated for Championship and U-2100. CFC membership is required.
Type: 5 Round Swiss. CFC rated for U-1800, U-1500, U-1200 and U-900. CFC membership is required.

Sections: CHAMPIONSHIP, U-2100, U-1800, U-1500, U-1200 and U-900

3 Days – Reg. ends 6pm. Rounds on Friday 7pm, Saturday 11am & 4pm, Sunday 10am & 4pm

1.5 hrs + 30 sec increment – All Sections

Special rate of $109 per standard guest room per night. Reservations must be made prior to Jan 4, 2019. For reservation, call (905) 842-5000 or toll free 1-855-914-9607. We encourage parents/players to take advantage of the early bird entry fee and the special rate for the room which is only $ 109 per night.

Canada only score based tournament is back in Jan 2019 which is next month.

We have a good start in registration and we are closing on 30 players now.

The prize money is based on how many points you get and not by placing. Check out the above tables for the prizes in your section. If you score perfect 5 in the Open section - you win $ 1,600

The venue is strategically located and you can get there by go train. Only 3-5 minutes walk from the station to the hotel. If you drive by car, it is conveniently located after you exit the 403.

This year ( 2018 )winners won a total of $ 9,150 of prize money. Same prize money structure for 2019.

Pre-registered list will be out this weekend.

1. If you need to take a bye in any round, please email to us

2. If you want to play up, please email to us as otherwise you will be playing as your last updated rating which is next Wednesday. I have moved players up or down based on their last Wednesday updated rating.

3. Please check for your CFC membership expiry date. You have to be a current member to play. Junior membership cost $ 32 and adult $ 48. We prefer you to make payment direct to CFC to avoid us collecting cash during the tournament. Please check the updated list
