  • Looking for sponsorship for chess, some resources from David Cohen

David Cohen has been very helpful in a number of initiatives as an organizer and historian for chess in Canada and also in Toronto having been one of the two main organizers of the last two Canadian Opens that were held in Toronto. He was also the prime organizer for an attempt to bring the chess Olympiad to Toronto. As such, he has some insight into looking for sponsorship. David has kindly provided the following links which might be of use to other Canadian chess organizers pursuing sponsorship:

David showed this to me when I was at his place last month...incredibly impressive! I think they received $100,000 to put this together!

It certainly would have been something if they had been successful in getting the Chess Olympiad. You have to be able to negotiate some chess politics in order to make it a reality. You are all to familiar with this from the machinations around NAYCC.
