Bareev is playing the 13-year-old GM.
Meanwhile in the top section Queenside action Carlsen against Ding sacked the exchange in the corner while Giri sacked a knight.

Nice win for Evgeny, since Praggnanandhaais so talented. As Lawrence Day used to say, 'You have to get them while they are young', referring to playing prodigies. These days, 13 may be considered old. This year, I may be more interested in the Challengers than the main event. Go Evgeny!

The tournament (Gibraltar) starts tomorrow. Last minute cancellation by GM Kevin Spraggett has been announced. Over 500 player in the 5 different sections. In the Masters section, at least 14 of them with a 2700+ rating.

I don't see any Canadians registered in any section at Gibraltar. :-(

Really sad as it's a very fine tournament. The Master's section will be so interesting to follow. Recently, a Canadian played in Las Vegas, another one, at the end of December, played in Rouen, France. Canadians are out there. Most just never talk about it.

In Portugal, at least 5 of us will be there (if I hadn't talked about it, I'm not sure people would have noticed anyone else than Kevin). Eric Hansen has already stated he's supposed to play in Berlin in April.
