  • Windsor Chess Challenge

I wonder, is this the most popular event in Canada? Maybe not the biggest (does London still have their 'grade-by-grade' tournament), but the enthusiasm...

Today is the first day back to school, and 48 schools have signed up, promising 895 students, so we are at 63% of capacity. We will probably be sold out soon.

Schools have until February 15th to name their players. Most schools are limited to 18 players (very large schools are allowed 26 players).

So, we have quantity... quality might be a challenge.

I think 1400 players is a fairly safe record for the moment. I believe you said that there were 1600 one year.

I believe the biggest year was 2010, when there were 1654 players. Back in the days when I had energy, enthusiasm, etc. We aim for about 1440 registered players, but there are always some no-shows, so we end up about 1420.
