GM Dariusz Swiercz is now a USA chess player

    January 9, 2019

Dariusz Swiercz (born 31 May 1994) was the youngest Polish chess player of all time to qualify for the title of Grandmaster at the age of 14 years and seven months in 2009.

He won the 2011 World Junior Chess Championship at the age of 17.

His present ratings are Standard 2649, Rapid 2658 and Blitz 2583.

He had been living and studying in the USA and, in November, he quietly switched from the Polish to the US Chess Federation.

Based on the January 2019 ratings, the top ten active players in the United States are:

    1 Caruana 2828
    2 So 2765
    3 Nakamura 2749
    4 Shankland 2725
    5 Xiong 2672
    6 Robson 2667
    7 Kamsky 2666
    8 Swiercz 2649
    9 Onischuk 2647
    9 Sevian 2647

Leinier Dominguez doesn’t appear on the lists of the USA or Cuba. I assume he is in a waiting period. His ratings are Standard 2739, Rapid 2816 and Blitz 2717. His Standard rating would put him 4th, after Nakamura.
