  • First 31 registrations for ZONAL & Easter Sectionals

Hello again everyone, we're now at 31 registrations, and I expect this week will be busy trying to beat the March 1st $20 increase.

As would be expected, more than half of the players registered so far are for the elite Zonal section.

For lower-rated players, we also have 3 great sections (U2200/U1900/U1600) with good prize funds!

For more information, please go to eoca.ca, and scroll down to the entry for:
    2019 Canada Zonal & Easter Sectionals (U2200/U1900/U1600)

(especially if you'll MAIL (vs. e-transfer) payment,
if you want to save the $20 more on March 1st,
email me ASAP! [arismarghetis at rogers dot com])

It looks like a great tournament. Sadly the Alberta Closed is being held the same weekend! I have sent an email to the President of the ACA and the ED, to try to get the AB closed moved.
Is it possible for you to list the entrants in rating order and provide the rating - at least in the Zonal section? Not a big deal, but it would be nice.

Hello Ian, nice talking to you again, since the Seniors in Calgary last summer. My family still talks about what a wonderful vacation (chesscation!) that was.

Yes, eventually, I'll post with ratings, etc. These days, I'm just coming off knee surgery, resting a lot, so I'm just trying to slap the list of names up as soon as possible, as often as feasible.

I'm also bracing/hoping for a bit of a registration blitz this week (rates go up $20 after Thursday). There's a couple of sponsors who haven't seen enough yet to bite, but I'm hoping this week is strong enough in sheer total numbers to pique their interest. If I can get them interested enough early enough, then there could be opportunities. The buzz around the Zonal section is great!

That's unfortunate about conflicting with the Alberta Closed, and I thank you for discussing the situation there. We would love to have more Alberta representation! (B.C. is already in!) We've been trying for years to find just the right long weekend for this event, and Easter is the only one where things seemed to come together decently (Tourism board, hotel, avoiding bigger events, etc)

      All the best, Aris.
