    1. GM E.Bareev - the Champion.

    2. GM A.Kovalyov 2631-10=2621

    3. GM E.Hansen 2611-10=2601

    4. IM N.Noritsyn 2508+10=2518

    5. GM A.Hambleton 2487+20=2507

    6. GM K.Spraggett 2510-10=2500

    7. GM K.Yang 2497

    8. GM R.Preotu 2502-10=2492

    9. GM B.Sambuev 2502-10=2492

    10. GM A.Lesiege 2500-10=2490

    Some explanations:

    1. According to CFC rules, 10 points subtracted for any player who didn't play in Canadian Closed. 20 points bonus for the Silver, 10 points for the Bronze.

    2. Olympiad scheduled for Aug 1 - Aug 15, 2020. The deadline is 5 months before the start. So, Mar 1, 2020 is the date for the final rating list for the National Team.

    3. Players need to play at least 20 rated games (FIDE or CFC) in the 12 months period before the deadline. That means, the period is Mar 1, 2019 - Mar 1, 2020.

    4. R.Preotu is above B.Sambuev in this list because he is younger.
Why not take the ratings as they are? as long they meet the minimum games requirement we shouldn't add or subtract bonus points. Take the best period.

Unfortunately, fact. Just not official yet.

I don't think that there is much choice at this point. Unless they have the virus defeated pretty much everywhere it would be the height of insanity to bring people from everywhere around the world to one place with thousands once you include players, captains, officials and spectators. If everyone started the journey virus free, some would get it on the plane and then two weeks in a virus incubator aka Olympiad and then back to spread it around the world. Anyone who thinks the regular Olympics will go on where the stakes are even higher due to larger numbers should look at what is happening in Europe and guess again.

Which raises the question, do we use the final list for 2020 or is it shifted to the same criteria 5 months before the new start? Either way, I can see people complaining.

Good point. Hopefully, this question will be relevant next year... Nothing is more permanent than temporary solutions.

Seriously, CFC executive should decide. My opinion - a new schedule means a new deadline and a new calculations.

People will always complain. Assuming we are back to normal and can hold zonals we may reserve two spots on the national team for the previous champion and for the next champion. That and other ideas are under discussion. Depending on how long the COVID situation lasts we will have to make some adjustments to the games played rules for this Olympiad.
