    Just a crazy idea

Why don't we combine the Canadian Amuater, Canadian Womens and Canadian Closed all in the same event, with their own sections.

This would mean more players most likely
    Better attaraction for sponsors

Thanks to Hal, Chris and Patrick for running a joyful Canadian Amuater

    Re: Canadian Championships Suggestion

We actually did this already, in 2007.

Other than the creaky stairs it was pretty good, I think. Jean Hébert was there as well, perhaps he has other opinions..?

      Canadian Women Over 2200

      Hi Chris:

I suppose one unfortunate consequence of having the Closed and the Women's Closed at the same time, is that women who qualify for the Closed would have to choose between the 2 tournaments, which to play in. This is probable not a good thing, now that we have women over 2200 rating: WFM Yuanling Yuan - 2301; WIM Natalia Khoudgarian - 2244; WFM Dina Kagramanov - 2218.

Thats great news, If they diced to play in the Canadian Closed.

Hopefully we could build them up to become heros to the next generation of female players. To prove that they compete equally with the men.

Then we could have a match between the top female at the Closed and the Womens Champion, however if a women wins the closed then we will have to have male only tournaments and titles lol.

Waiting for them to cross to the 2400 and more to pass 2200

        Way to Go
        Yuanling Yuan - 2301; Natalia Khoudgarian - 2244; Dina Kagramanov - 2218.

That would make an interesting poll
Which Canadian Female will be the frist to 2400 eithier CFC or FIDE

            Lee,

Excellent suggestion! I will keep that in mind for 2011!!

I think Tom O'Donnell might agree that just like there is a women's and a "men's" team in the Olympics, then there should be the same in the national championships. I don't think it would be unfair for the women to have to choose either one tournament or the other, esepecially since the men have only one tournament to choose from.

            Thanks, Jordan
