Rohan Talukdar is really brave. Or something. In round 3, he traded everything off to go into an endgame against Naroditsky, who, at the age of 16, wrote a book called “Mastering Complex Endgames”, and since he was 14 has written an endgame column for Chess Life magazine. Or so Wiki says.

Rohan Talukdar is very, very good. He played into that ending with control and confidence. To play with confidence at his age against a grandmaster! Wow! Windsor's first grandmaster soon. Why not?

Almost every grandmaster that I have talked to about Rohan has said that he would be a grandmaster. Many were surprised that he wasn't already as he certainly plays like one at times. He just has to get a bit more confidence so that he is not just content to draw with the Grandmasters.

https://www.chessbomb.com/arena/2019..._Isan_Reynaldo Double exchange sacrifice! and I especially like the queen and two knight finish.

I noticed two Canadians playing each other in last round. Thats too bad. Did Rohan Talukdar get an IM norm?

Too bad? Actually, it was exactly the opposite. O.Chiku-Ratte made his third and final IM norm after a short friendly draw with Shiyam. After a very good start (he was close to GM norm before last 3 rounds) Olivier lost 2 games in a row and needed a draw in last round to secure the IM norm.

He had once his FIDE rating above 2400, so Canada has a new IM now. Congratulations!!

Talukdar with performance slightly below 2450 missed the norm (and the title) by 0.5 points.

Thanks Victor for providing the information and congratulations to IM Chiku - Ratte. Its nice to hear of good news when Canadians play each other south of the border.
