  • NM Chris Pace loses first Kingston CC game -- to former MP, Dr. Ted Hsu!

NM Chris Pace has lived in Kingston for just over a year, and he has been a major contributor to chess in the Kingston area. In all that time, Chris had never lost a non-blitz game at the Kingston Chess Club. Until Mon., Sept. 23, that is! On that night, former MP Dr. Ted Hsu defeated Chris in a hard-fought game of nearly 60 moves! Interestingly, Ted, who had been a very good junior player in Kingston, but who had been out of tournament chess for nearly 20 years, until making a return a few years ago, said this was his first-ever win against a player rated over 2200! I hope to be able to post the game soon! Ted had served as Member of Parliament for Kingston and the Islands for 2011-2015, was selected as Parliamentarian of the Year by McLean's magazine, then decided not to run again in the 2015 federal election. Congratulations on your win, Ted!!!
