A lot of Cubans played in Montreal tournaments this year. They are usually "cheaper" to get than Americans.

You have an amazing output of events. Smaller round-robins are stronger events with norms, but harder to fund.

Is there an email network among Canadian IAs to share info about players?
Is there an email list among Canadian titled players to ask if they know titled friends who might visit?
Does the CFC have emails from foreign players who want to visit?
Does the USCF have a way of contacting their lower-rated masters? Have you contacted the Buffalo and Saint Louis clubs?
Can it be mentioned on chess.com and other online discussion boards?

There are expenses in bringing foreign players here, although billeting with local players might help. I know Hal Bond used to bring great players to Guelph, but that was supported by the entry fees of players in the Swiss.

You're hoping to catch some player already here playing under another flag? Some may be in the process of changing flags. Some may be too busy going to school; Some are too busy teaching chess.

Thanks Erik for the great ideas. I'm not aware of a network among Canadian IA's or players for that matter. I've reached out to a few clubs in the US and got some leads. Thanks for the list of players. Sometimes, the challenge is getting their email addresses. I've reached out to a few other organizers who have been helpful in providing leads.

I agree it is costly to host these events so that's one reason we're hosting it along with the 2020 Oakville Winter Open to help offset some of the costs. I will look into other ideas you proposed. Thanks again.
