  • OCC qualifier at the Aurora CC (ON)

    Date: February 18, 2020

    Place: Aurora High School

    Sections: by grades – SK, Grade 1 to 12. Small-number-of-players grades might be combined in to one.

    Winners in each grade will qualify for the Ontario Chess Challenge final tournament (April 25, 2020, at Thornhill Community Center). For a large-number-of-players grade more qualifying spots are available.

    Format: max 5 rounds. Round-robin or Swiss depending on a number of players. Rated by the Chess’n-Math Association ( www.chess-math.org/ratings ).

    Time control: 10 min each player.

    Schedule:

    18:00-18:20 Registration

    18:30 Round 1

    19:00 Round 2

    19:30 Round 3

    20:00 Round 4

    20:30 Round 5

    Rounds 2-5 might start early or ASAP.

    Tie-breaks: if players would tie for the qualifying place – an Armageddon blitz match will take place.

    Registration: pre-registration is mandatory (by email, using a website form or at the Aurora Chess Club). Fee $10 for Aurora Chess Club members, $15 non-AuCC members. Fees are paid on the tournament night or at the club. There are limited number of spots.

          Today! There are 40 players on the list.

          Players, please arrive 6:00-6:20 pm to pay entree fees. Games will start 6:30.

          Sections: seems that Grade 4 will have own section; others probably will be combined like SK-3; Gr 5-7, 8-12. It will be decided on the spot ~6:20 pm, thus don't be late.
