  • looking for Central-Mountain tournament on weekend of June 20th

Hello there, I'll be travelling southwestwards during the second half of June, so looking for recommendations on tournaments in the Central-Mountain time zones, the further south the better.

I'm more interested in great playing conditions, interesting experiences like lectures, vs. big prize funds, etc. I'm hoping that someone here has stumbled upon a gem in their travels. Thanks!

If you're including the US - there's the National Open in Las Vegas - but it's between June 24 and 28. It has everything you've requested - plus the World Series of Poker is usually on at the same time. Excellent playing conditions, and lots of side events.

Yes, I am indeed heading to the National Open in Vegas. At my rating, I would start playing Thursday evening, so I am looking for another tournament the weekend before, so June 19th-21st.

It doesn't have to be super close to Vegas, just kinda "on the way" to Vegas from Ontario. Thanks though for finding this, I am always genuinely impressed how you Hugh find so many things!

P.S. yes, the poker (but at low buy-ins lol) is also fun-ly appealing!

There are a couple of options for you along the way but to your point, travelling to Reston, Virginia and playing in the 9th annual Continental Class Championships (one of Goichberg's tournaments) seems to be what you are looking for on the 19th-21st weekend.

          Enjoy your trip.
Thanks Serge! I'm hoping for something more westward. By the way, I've never worked the National Open, and I'm going there primarily to play, although late-night poker may be possible lol

I played in the National Open several times - when it was in March. I'm not a fan of Vegas in June, when it's 40-45 C outside, and you need a sweater inside (the a/c can be brutal!).

June 12-14 (or 13-14): Cleveland OH. is the only other major event I can find.

You could go through this list state-by-state - which will probably be updated as June approaches.

Thanks again. I'll be at the Golden Horseshoe ending June 14th, and then I guess we'll see. Hopefully the weekend after that, I'll stumble across some little gem of a tournament southwest of here.
