Some Basics
1. Under Board "Frequently Asked Questions" (FAQs) there are 3 sections dealing with General Forum Usage, User Profile Features, and Reading and Posting Messages. These deal with everything from Avatars to Your Notifications. Most general technical questions are covered there. Here is a link to the FAQs. https://forum.chesstalk.com/help
2. Consider using the SEARCH button if you are looking for information. You may find your question has already been answered in a previous thread.
3. If you've looked for an answer to a question, and not found one, then you should consider asking your question in a new thread. For example, there have already been questions and discussion regarding: how to do chess diagrams (FENs); crosstables that line up properly; and the numerous little “glitches” that every new site will have.
4. Read pinned or sticky threads, like this one, if they look important. This applies especially to newcomers.
5. Read the thread you're posting in before you post. There are a variety of ways to look at a thread. These are covered under “Display Modes”.
6. Thread titles: please provide some details in your thread title. This is useful for a number of reasons. It helps ChessTalk members to quickly skim the threads. It prevents duplication of threads. And so on.
7. Unnecessary thread proliferation (e.g., deliberately creating a new thread that duplicates existing discussion) is discouraged. Look to see if a thread on your topic may have already been started and, if so, consider adding your contribution to the pre-existing thread. However, starting new threads to explore side-issues that are not relevant to the original subject is strongly encouraged. A single thread on the Canadian Open, with hundreds of posts on multiple sub-topics, is no better than a dozen threads on the Open covering only a few topics. Use your good judgment when starting a new thread.
8. If and/or when sub-forums are created, please make sure to create threads in the proper place.
Debate
9. Give an opinion and back it up with a reason. Throwaway comments such as "Game X pwnz because my friend and I think so!" could be considered pointless at best, and inflammatory at worst.
10. Try to give your own opinions, not simply those copied and pasted from reviews or opinions of your friends.
Unacceptable behavior and warnings
11. In registering here at ChessTalk please note that the same or similar rules apply here as applied at the previous Boardhost message board. In particular, the following content is not permitted to appear in any messages:

* Hatred

* Nudity or pornography
* Material that infringes intellectual property or other proprietary rights of any party

12. Users are welcome to challenge other points of view and opinions, but should do so respectfully. Personal attacks on others will not be tolerated. Furthermore, a range of sanctions are possible - from a simple warning to a temporary or even a permanent banning from ChessTalk.
Helping to Moderate
13. 'Report' links (an exclamation mark inside a triangle) can be found in many places throughout the board. These links allow users to alert the board staff to anything which is offensive, objectionable or illegal. Please consider using this feature if the need arises.

Vale will be offering financial resources of up to USD $1M to help bring these solutions to end-users quickly and effectively.

Neil, Looks good. I am waiting on a quote from PCL Graphics who make face shield. I have requested for 5000, 10,000, 25000 and above that with delivery dates to plan my business case. Is there a way on similar lines you will be able to provide a quote?
In Burlington, the Bourne Mills company is forming a 'Sewing Army' of people interested and able to help producing masks, gowns, caps, scrubs, and cubicle mesh.
My wife and her friend of signed up online and waiting to be contacted.
Once they get 100 sewers registered they will be submitting a proposal to the government in hopes of getting contracts to assist.
In the meantime my wife is independently doing what she can to provide barrier masks for those vulnerable and looking for something to help.
N95 masks are certainly the best, but for personal use barrier masks, the information we found online where tests were done, is that the best masks are constructed with two layers of heavyweight "quilters cotton" with a thread count of at least 180, and a thicker and tighter weave. She is using a piece of carefully harvested filter fabric, taken from a 3M 1900 series series furnace filter, sandwiched between the two layers of fabric, and cut to the same dimensions.
She is using a darker Batik woven fabric material. A quick test she does is to hold it up to the light of a window and confirms it is blocking a significant amount of light.
This is essentially the approach and pattern she is using, with the addition of the 3M filtering fabric inserted between the Batik fabric.
You would not throw these in to the washing machine as there is potential for the 3M filtering fabric to get bunched up or torn.
Still looking for good recommendations how to sanitize these masks for multiple safe use. Suggestions are to place them into boiling water for a period of time and to air dry. Another idea is to use UV light. Another is to create a slit in the back of the mask and allow for the filter fabric to be removed / replaced. Not a fan of that one as the filter fabric may not be re-inserted properly and you want to be careful around the handling / sanitation aspect.

This pattern incorporate the slit / pocket idea. Also has a nose clip (pipe cleaner) for tighter fit around the nose. She has not incorporated that in hers, although likely will test it soon.
Sorry Shiva, I'm no longer fabricating with plastics on that level. Chris is fabricating those over in England to help with their NHS (National Health Services). The product is effective and has been well received.
PCL Graphics seem very capable of doing that sort of product run.
Thanks Neil. No problem. I was looking for quotes for N95 and all I was getting was quotes for KN95. I am also working on getting a confirmation from Canada Health that the Doctors here can use KN95 instead of N95. The below are 2 questions looking on info on very High priority by EOD tomorrow.
1) Was looking into options to have masks similar to N95 made in Canada. There is work force to do the masks but below is where it is struck. Any inputs is highly appreciated.
There is "3M Filterete 1900 Ultimate Allergen Filter" which filters 95% particles similar to N95 including viruses but the specifications doesn't mention about Oil can get in.
The main difference I am observing between N95 and this one is, the N95 allows Oil to pass inside which I believe is required to be able to wear for more hours and avoid choking.
Once the filters are finalized than can work towards getting approval from Ontario Health before manufacturing in bulk.
2) If anyone is aware of a Doctor who is directly attending COVID patients and want to seek some info if need to procure "Hasmath Suits" (100% safe) or KN95 masks(90% safe). These % are based on online searching on Doctors mortality rate but need a definitive information and would help if directly from the doctor to put it in the proposal.

Once again friends, I believe most of the state Leaders believed it is not going to hit them and were under prepared, let us not do the same mistake. We need to take all preventive measures possible to save our Doctors as each doctors life is equal to 1000 patients during crisis.
I have submitted my proposal as part of Vale Covid challenge on Apr 9th to get PPEs to Hospitals taking care of Covid patients in ON. This was based on information from few Hospitals and speaking to Doctors. The funding results from Vale will be announced this weekend on Apr 24th. The funding was provided to " A Students Robotics Team" for Sterilizing boxes and Flosonics Medical, a start-up to supply wearable sensors(attached). My proposal on PPEs didn't get funding.
