  • Upcoming lectures in Grandmaster Corner

The Calgary Chess Club has been presenting various zoom-based lectures from prominent GMs - the most recent was last weekend's session with Czech GM David Navara.

I can tell you that David's presentation was very informative and very insightful.

It is amazing to learn first hand how a GM thinks about a position and what he or she does to narrow the focus to determine a course of action.

Of course, there is also an interactive Q & A session where the GM answers pretty much any and all questions - often with surprising honesty!

You do not have to sign up for a set of 4 lectures (although it is somewhat cheaper to opt for all 4).

Highly recommended and affordable insight! Please see the information below.

Here is another clip from the recent presentation by Anna Zatonskih.

This lecture was very interactive - there were a lot of questions about various lines and possible moves and Anna graciously took the time to discuss everyone's idea.

Reminder: this Saturday's lecture is with GM Evgeny Bareev - Canada's highest ranked GM and a veteran chess instructor.

There is still time to sign up for this lecture - please see information up-thread.

These lectures are very informal and can be beneficial for players of all strengths - attendees so far have included players
rated below 1600 all the way to IM (and even some GMs and WGMs have attended). This is a great opportunity to see the
benefit of some directed instruction from world class GMs and to learn how they think and their approach to the game.

GM Aleksandr Lenderman’s lecture today was first class! I’m already hearing guys that they want Aleksandr to be invited back! I agree with them, he was that good. Here’s a link to the
Calgary Chess Club’s Facebook page addressing today’s excellent lecture.
