    Position after Aronian’s 18.Ng3!

It was a great @Meltwater Champions Chess Tour debut for Vladislav Artemiev, but he fell just short in the final!

Levon Aronian has won the #GoldmoneyAsianRapid, but the 3rd place match between Magnus Carlsen and Ding Liren is still in full swing, with Ding currently on course to force a playoff!

Aronian, who is in Paris with his girlfriend, says he will have to go home to pack for the World Cup in Sochi, so there won't be much of a celebration: "But I will definitely allow myself a glass of wine!"

Levon Aronian: "I have to say I was of course lucky against Magnus. If I hadn't been lucky in that match when I was blundering everything we wouldn't be sitting here saying how smart and intelligent my tactics were!"

With 1st place in the Prelims and the Knockout, @LevAronian scored the maximum 50 Tour points and $30,000!

    Aronian-Artemiev 2-0

"An absolute masterpiece by Carlsen!" (King)
Magnus Carlsen gets back on track by beating Ding Liren in the first blitz game. Ding must now hit back to force Armageddon!

It wasn't the match he wanted, or the way he'd have wanted it to go today, but @MagnusCarlsen has beaten Ding Liren 1.5:0.5 in blitz to clinch 3rd place in the #GoldmoneyAsianRapid!

Magnus Carlsen: "I used to like Levon as an Armenian, and even briefly as a German, but as an American I'm not so sure!"

Magnus Carlsen on his hopes for the #FIDEWorldCup: "First of all I hope to get there! I hope to submit a negative COVID test tomorrow and get my first shot of the vaccine..."
