  • "Goldmoney" is a Canadian corporation....

....with a head office at 334 Adelaide St. W, suite 307, Toronto. How did they get involved with chess? None of the directors have names that are familiar to me - chesswise. The CEO (Roy Sebag) has a few Twitter comments regarding chess dating back to 2017. He has no CFC rating.

    From the Chesstour web site:

Roy Sebag, CEO of Goldmoney, said: “Chess is a beautiful game which expresses the skill, free will, and intelligence found in human beings. It is a game with a rich tradition spanning at least hundreds of years.
“Likewise, gold has a rich tradition as an element of great wonder which has served as the premier form of money for human civilization for thousands of years.
“We are honoured to partner with the Tour, supporting this rich human tradition of chess while introducing the contemporary chess community to the rich tradition of gold and precious metals.”

The company trades on the TSE (symbol XAU), and is making money. Documents are available online:

Sebag is/was also involved in Bitcoin. One of several interviews with him - discussing gold vs Bitcoin from 2019:

Can we get them involved in Canadian chess?

A relative of French GM Marie Sebag, perhaps?

"Sebag" is a fairly common surname (of Moroccan origin with various spellings - there are 26 Sebags with listed phone numbers across Canada). Roy was born in Toronto; Marie was born in Paris. Maybe distant relatives?
