Regarding the Toronto Thanksgiving Open 2009, Can you please verify the Prizes based on the number of players?

The link below showed Prizes of $6,000 based on 130 players?

The link below showed Prizes of $6,000 based on 150 players?

        http://torontochess.org/drupal/node/177

Is that supposed to be $7,000 based on 150 players similar to the Toronto Labour Day 2009?

        Which is the right flyer?

        Thank You!

          Re: Thanksgiving Weekend open tournaments

          Thanks for noticing.

There was an accidental discrepancy which has been corrected on our website gtachessevents.memberlodge.com now.

The prize fund is $6,000 based on 150 non amateur players. The Labour Day Open was $7,000 based on the same number however I determined after the Labour Day Open that $7,000 was slightly high relative to 150 players. Considering the Thanksgiving open will give more discounts to players who play in both events, the entry fees might be slightly lower so I adjusted the figure to $6,000.

However, the principal rule is to return 70% of the entry fees for non amateur players. if we get 150 players and the 70% is higher than $6,000, we will make the prize fund higher than $6,000. we will not return less than 70% under any circumstances.

            Thanks for the clarification.

Do you have your list or number of players preregistered?

            Thanks!

                Re: Thanksgiving Weekend open tournaments

A couple of these tournaments (see first post in thread) start today. Bumpy last chance to enter!

                BC Closed Championship with:
                Lucas Davies
                Roman Jiganchine
                Dragoljub Milicevic
                Brian McLaren
                Alfred Pechisker
                Tanraj Sohal
                Howard Wu
                Jack Yoos

takes place at the same place, and most of the same times, as the UBC Thanksgiving Open. Tanraj is taking part for the first time; the others are veterans.
