My team mate Brian offers this excellent idea: Hey Erik, I dont have chesstalk account, but was wondering if you could post my suggestion to Brian Clarke: "Run the tournament as a regular individual Swiss, except players from same team can't face each other and then take cumulative score of all 4 players per team to get the team scores and standings." This is how they do the annual Ontario High School Championship.

Hamissauga Hooligans want to challenge this top team you advertised. You threw down the gauntlet, we picked it up.
If we fire on all cylinders for one round, we topple the giant. :)
Please keep the 4 player teams intact and combine into one section.

As you all can see, each person commenting has different ideas about what is the best setup given the current registrants. I have also received several other ideas by email. Each idea has it's pros and cons, including mine.
I plan to continue as I proposed in the posting #9. I base my decision on the following criteria, in decreasing order of importance.- Run the tournament as a team event. This was the premise of the tournament from the beginning and is a major attractant. Reluctantly I had to reduce the number on a team from 4 to 2 to make it work.
- Allow players to choose their own teammates. I have split the teams in half but kept each player with an original teammate. I believe that people want teammates that are friends instead of someone who is selected by some other means.
- Keep the rating disparity to a minimum. Most players don't want to play against someone who is much higher or lower rated than them.
- Put everyone who registered onto a team. Individuals who register will be teamed up with someone else. If we have an odd number in the Swiss section, I will try to place one person onto a team of three.
Team Player Rating MB1 David Cummings 2390 MB1 Michael Dougherty 2160 MB2 Eilia Zomorrodian 2260 MB2 Egidijus Zeromskis 2242 LCH1 Roman Sapozhnikov 2313 LCH1 Erik Malmsten 1924 HH1 Mikhail Egorov 2081 HH1 Gordon Gooding 2001 HH2 John Upper 2088 HH2 Robert Gillanders 1602 NB Leroy Gibson 1946 NB Richard Glew 1688
I will update the Swiss Section ASAP.

Here's an update about food and drinks in the building:
You can bring in bottled water, coffee, lunches, etc. As long as you’re able to stay safely distanced from one another 2 m (6 ft) then you’re fine. There should be garbage cans / recycle bins in the hall.

And now for the tournament results, starting with the best team name.Congratulations to Keep Calm and Caro-Kann, with 13 votes out of 33. Incidentally this was the only team that registered 5 players: Seyon Vasantharajan, Emil Kerimov, Nisitha Jayatilleka, Abhinav Ramakrishnan, and Yasith Vidanaarachchi. They got their entry fees back as a prize.ALEKHINE'S OF FUN HAMISSAUGA HOOLIGANS KEEP CALM AND CARO-KANN Winners KNIGHTPACK HUSTLERS MODERNA BENONIS 2nd NEPO MY EGGO NEPO'S BUN RETI FOR ANYTHING 3rd
