Hey, how come tournaments in BC aren't FIDE rated? I would have played in this one if it had been. Haven't played since the 1980's, but apparently FIDE has dropped their requirements so far that I might get a rating.

Are their Vancouver tournaments that are FIDE rated?

        Regards,

        Jeremy Crowhurst

Some tournaments are (Premier section only), some aren't. Some that are include:

BC Open http://www.bcopenchess.pbworks.com February 19-21 in Richmond
Grand Pacific Open www.grandpacificopen.pbworks.com April 15-18 in Victoria
Keres Memorial (details TBA) May 21-23 in Richmond.

The Keres details will probably be announced in a couple of weeks. I just have to iron out some small issues.

You can always check out the BCCF website for latest info: www.chess.bc.ca
