Ive been watching the US Masters as a warmup to the world championship (you have to warm up as a fan too) Many interesting games. https://www.chessbomb.com/arena/2021...let_Maili_Jade Black has the perfect king side defensive formation - the rare diamond pawn formation but she fails to negotiate successfully on the queenside.

There are a few Canadians here, and it's been fun reconnecting with them, and with other people from remarkably many nations. The field is quite impressive, and the organization, including playing conditions, is very good. The concurrent North Carolina Open is starting today, and together, there will be hundreds of chess players enjoying the vey appealing location or this event.

What a log jam going into the last round. Two tied for first with 6.5, six tied for third with 6, seventeen at 5.5. Tense last round.
