    Short-Efimenko

The match between Short and Efimenko is shaping up to be a battle royal. Efimenko won the first game with Black but Short came back to win the second, again with Black. Nigel did warn me that he believed he would have his hands full and then some.
As you all know, Short is one of the icons of the game while Efimenko is one of the young lions. They have been seesawing in the FIDE ratings with Short back on top by a small margin thanks to some very good results this year. The excellent website for the tournament, which is presented by UEP, is
    http://www.uep-chess.com/cms_english/.
It is also covered a day late by ChessBase.com.
    Enjoy,
