  • 2 more players needed for Women Team

Looking for 2 more players for Women Team.

Unfortunately, so far we have just 3 players who confirmed their participation in Chennai.

    WGM M.-J.Ouellet
    WGM Q.Zhou
    WIM S.Demchenko

If your rating is above 1800 CFC and you are willing to play for Canada in Chennai, please send me a message. victorp68 at yahoo.ca

2 higher rated players will make the team. The deadline - May 20, 2022.

IM S.Thavandiran will be a Captain for Women Team Canada.

Without commenting on who's to blame or why it is where it is, this is a very sad commentary on the state of women's chess in Canada.

Looking at the CFC page for women rated >1800 who have played since the start of 2020 only returns 25 names, 2 of which are on the team already. Have to imagine Nava Starr is not playing or would have expressed her interest already, and Botez is too real-life successful to play. That leaves a pool of 21 players - probably worth just contacting them all directly rather than posting here.

At least one of those is not eligible because their fide flag is not Canada

Not sure what you're saying here - I just took the list from the CFC ratings page, filtered by minimum rating 1800 and active some time since Jan 1, 2020.

I am just surprised. Morgen is a good friend and we go way back. All the way to High School, then UT. Looking forward to seeing Morgen representing Canada!

I think we'd all prefer that. However, your more realistic option is your post goes unresponded to and scrolls off the end of the first page, never to be seen again.
