The 2022 Toronto Blitz Championship was successfully completed on Monday night. This was the 7th time the Championship was organized and run by ACC, on behalf of the Greater Toronto Chess League (GTCL).

A total mass of over 1,300 blitz games was completed in a little over 4 hours, with a final tally of 97 players playing 7 double rounds of 3-minute/2-second games. The Arbiters Alex Ferreira (Lead) and Omar Shah (Assistant, from Scarborough Chess Club) did a fantastic job!!

First place was shared by IM Nikolay Noritsyn, IM Ameet Ghasi, and IM Artiom Samsonkin who all scored 12 points out of 14.

Top Woman Player: WGM Anna Burtasova
Top Player Under 2200: Raymond Gao
Top Player Under 1800: tied Ande Li and Kabeer Sethi
Top Player Under 1500: Claudio Sottile

A big thanks to the sponsors OXO Innovation and Spirit of Math, and the group of volunteers, Eric Antoniazzi Pucci, Dennis Li, Erik Malmsten, Michael Saltat, Jazmin Teodoro and Glenn Giffen who helped with the event. Their contribution was the key to successfully run a blitz event of this scale!

I am grateful for the commitment and hard work of Annex Chess Club's board members Melanie Directo, Michael Sutton, Keith Denning and George Supol, the Tournament Organizer. No event at ACC can be organized without George's careful planning, extreme attention to details and contagious enthusiasm.

More info on the event can be found on our website: Annex Chess Club | T647-822-4628 | Chess for everyone

Well organised and classy presentation. Congratulations! Nice to see Nikolay and Artiom still proving they are champions. Also nice to see Fast Eddie back. - and Joshua Terry getting challenged by Toronto's best.

Salim, I have to echo Hans's comment ... this was a well run event!

To bad we couldn't display a neural map that event as all the player's decisions were being made ... in real time!

I guess we're not quite there yet ... graphically speaking, ha! Be fun to watch!

          Anywho, kudos!!!
