    Fumbling about and barely mobile

The King fearlessly hides in the corner

    Demanding the loving protection

    Of his adventurous Queen

Is this not true of life

    Bravely prodded forward

    The faithful pawns enter battle

    Ready to be coldly sacrificed

    By their scheming grand master

And is this not true of life

As the wars are ruthlessly contested

    The daring protagonists energetically search

For better and more challenging positions

Until at long last mating occurs

And is this not also true of life

But whence the brave fight is over

And the humbled loser soundly vanquished

    Even the proud victor

Has no further moves to play

And this is true only of death

    Life is not a game

    Very nice!

So over at the OCC ... Ottawa Chess Club ... we used to have a chess poetry contest every month or so. The winner would receive a pie ... an actual pie, ha!

So wayyy back in 2008 I published just a few of these winning chess poetry ...
