    2nd CHRISTMAS CHESS CLASSICS for CHARITY – presented by Oakville Chess Club in collaboration with Elevate My Chess & Chess For Community


    The Oakville Chess Club in collaboration with Elevate My Chess and Chess For Community is proud to host our 2nd Christmas Chess Classics in support of Charity. This year, all donations raised from this event will be donated to Harvest Market. Harvest Market is a ministry of Hope Bible Church Oakville and they serve our community by providing food and day-to-day supplies to families in need. Learn more about this great ministry here.

    THIS IS A FREE EVENT FOR ALL CHESS PLAYERS – NO ENTRY FEE IS REQUIRED. HOWEVER, WE SUGGEST YOU COME WITH ITEMS TO BE DONATED SUCH AS cooking oil, canned salmon, rice, flour, white sugar, ketchup, shampoo/conditioner, body lotion, mayo, fruit snacks, snacks for kids, granola bars, canned fruit (See full list of items here)

    Location & Dates

    When: Saturday, December 10, 2022

    Where: Glen Abbey United Church (Inside the Gym), 1469 Nottinghill Gate, Oakville ON

    Format

    5 Round Swiss for Rapid. CFC-rated for all categories. CFC membership is required.

    Rounds: Rd 1 – 11 AM; Rd 2 – 12 PM; Rd 3 – 1:30 PM; Rd 4 – 2:30 PM; Rd 5 – 3:30 PM

    Sections: OPEN, U-1600, and U1000 (Note: Sections may be combined depending on the number of participants)

    Time Control: 25 mins per game plus 5-sec increment

    BYES

    1/2 points for rounds 1-3

    The byes MUST be requested in advance, at the latest prior to the end of the previous round

    As this is a Charity event, we ask that you please consider bringing a bag of food or household item for donation to Harvest Market. You can also bring cash or donate money via email money transfer to info@oakvillechessclub.ca or directly using this link.
    100% of all proceeds – donated items and money will be donated to Harvest Market!


    Prize money for this event, space rental costs, and all other costs associated with running this event will be paid by Oakville Chess Club, Elevate My Chess, GMS Professional Corporation, Other generous donors, and Ken Green as a way of giving back to our community.

    Open Section: 1st $150 plus medal; 2nd $80 plus medal; 3rd Medal

    U1600 Section: 1st $120 plus medal; 2nd $60 plus medal; 3rd Medal

    U1000 Section: 1st $80 plus medal; 2nd $40 plus medal; 3rd Medal

    Unrated may not win over $10 in all sections

    Snacks and water will be provided. Chess equipment will be provided.
