Additional to the main tournament the two sides events are planned - rapids for Juniors on Saturday, and everyone on Sunday. It is an offer to those who can not commit both days or due some other reasons can not play in the main tournament.
Though these will go only with ~16 players for Saturday; and 20 for Sunday. Please register in advance.

Bernie visited the main hall - there will be some major or maybe minor change - wall were repainted with a different color :) No pics yet.

We added two side events for those who can not commit two-day tournament - Junior Rapid on Saturday, and Rapid (for everyone) on Sunday.

I probably could dig out the old ad from 2020 Spring Open and used it :) Not much changed since then. That one got cancelled and we went dormant or online.

It will be the 18th edition of our opens.

Location: Newmarket Old Town Hall (Ontario)

Dates: March 25-26, 2023

Sections: Master, U2100, U1700, and U1300

Five rounds with 90 min +30 sec inc time control

Fees: $90. Play-up fee +$20


Prizes


Monetary prizes in Master, U2100, U1700, and U1300 sections. First prize in Master Section – minimum 1200 CAD based on 120 players in the main event. For unrated players max prize is 100 CAD.



The prize monies depends on a number of players in total and in sections. Thus, we can not provide exact amounts for particular sections. However, you might guess comparing the previous events like in 2019 Fall Open
