Three tournaments in the Kitchener Waterloo area in four weeks! Wow! Starting with this one and two others advertised on the front page of chesstalk that is the most frequent we have had tournaments. Tournament chess playing enthusiasts enjoy!

Really enjoyed the tournament and met lots of old friends. Fantastic hospitality by the Hungarian community and awesome pastries and schnitzel.

Even won a unique trophy labelled Least likely to blunder in the last round and then went and blundered in the last round. LOL!

I still amazed at the number of players in the tournament under 1400. 38!! thats well more than half the tournament numbers - its actually close to two thirds!! We have a new generation of players playing!

I have observed that at every tournament and chess club that I have been to in the past year. The reopening of activity has seen a surge of people that became interested in chess during COVID-19 restrictions. I hope that the interest continues.

Here is a link to a video that was created by the Hungarian Club's president, Zoltan Maros. It is in Hungarian, but does a good job of showing the venue, the players and even the kitchen where lunch was being prepared. Kathy Takacs, our main Hungarian Club contact, was interviewed and speaks in Hungarian. Kyle Vander Welle (KW Chess Club president) and I were interviewed in English. https://youtu.be/g6kYzwpofo0
