    When: 1:30PM – 6:30PM
    Sunday, Jun 11th, Jul 16th & Aug 13th 2023

    Where: Maverick Learning Centre @ 1020 Denison St. Suite 205, Markham, ON L3R 3W5


    Who: students grade K to 12 (Age 5-18) who loves playing chess*
    *If you do not have CFC ID, you can register here. For players under 20yrs, NO annual membership fee required.


    Schedule: 5 Rounds in total: 1st round starting at 1:30 p.m. Refreshments are provided.

    Sections: Under 8, Under 10, Under 12, Under 14, Under 16, Under 18

    Rating: the tournament will be rated by CFC & CMA*.

    Time Control: Game in 25 minutes plus 5 seconds delay per move (Bronstein)

    Entry Fee: $40 for one tournament | $70 for two tournaments | $100 for three tournaments

    Payment Method:
    (1) eTransfer to mavericklearning.ca@gmail.com with player’s full name mentioned as note

    (2) Cash – in person during our working hours Mon – Fri 11am – 8pm & Sat 10am – 8pm

    Prizes: Medals for top places.
    • Clocks and sets will be supplied.

            I am glad to see lots of youth players in our neighborhood keep in-person tournament practice even during the summer break. Persistency is one of the simplest but most powerful tools to reach our goals and make our dreams come true.

              We are happily to see more than half of the new faces last Sunday. Hopefully we will meet more new friend and families on Jul 16th at the Summer Breeze 2 tournament.

                    With 43 players and their families here today, we enjoyed a nice Sunday afternoon here with not only the fun in chess playing, but also the fresh grapes, cherry plums, oranges, corn chips, goldfish and more. The last one in summer is Summer Breeze 3 on Aug. 13th. we already have more than 25 players registered. The more, the happier! Join us today!

                      We are happy to find out that we have around 30% new chess players getting their CFC ID/CMA ID every tournament we host. Love to see more young players join the Canadian chess community. See you Aug 13th 2023.
