Rising Star Odyssey Two - Youth Chess Tournament

Who: students grade K to 12 (Age 5-19) who loves playing chess*
*If you do not have CFC ID, you can register here. For players under 20yrs, NO annual membership fee required.

When: Sunday, October 15th, 2023

Where : 1020 Denison St. Suite 205, Markham (Close to Warden / Steeles)

Rounds: 5 Rounds: starting at 1:30pm. All rounds will be A.S.A.P. Refreshments are provided.

$10 to play-up for those within 100 points of higher section.

Rating: The tournament will be CFC quick rated

Time Control: Game in 25 minutes plus 5 seconds delay per move (Bronstein)

Entry Fee: $40 .All players must register before October 13th. 10% Discount for Maverick Chess club members
No registration on site.
First come first serve as capacity is limited to 60 players.

I want to take a moment to express our heartfelt gratitude for your participation in the Rising Star Odyssey 1 Youth Chess Tournament held on Sunday, September 10th. Your presence and enthusiasm made the event a resounding success, and we couldn't be happier with the turnout.

We are particularly thrilled to share that one third of the medals awarded during the tournament were taken home by our talented young female chess players. This is a remarkable achievement, and it's a testament to the dedication and hard work put in by each and every participant. This is a testament to the inclusive and supportive chess community we are building together.

We want to extend our appreciation to each and every one of you - the players who exhibited remarkable skill and sportsmanship, and the parents who have been unwavering in their support and encouragement. Your commitment to nurturing the love for chess among our youth is truly commendable.


In addition to our tournaments, we also offer CFC/FIDE Rated Regular chess games with a longer time control (60 minutes per player with a 15-second increment) on every Saturday night, starting at 6:30 PM. These longer games are designed to help young players practice their strategy and calculation skills, making them more well-rounded chess enthusiasts.


Furthermore, don't forget about our in-person chess lessons on Saturdays. These lessons are structured to provide young minds with a clear and enjoyable way to learn chess, enhance their skills, and foster a deeper love for the game.


Once again, thank you for being an integral part of the Maverick Chess Club for Youth community. Thank you for your participation, dedication, and support. We look forward to seeing you at Rising Star Odyssey 2 and at our other chess events in the near future. Together, we can continue to nurture the passion for chess in our youth and create a stronger, more vibrant chess community.
