First game Shawn R-L had a tough maneuvering middle game and endgame until his opponent allowed him to create a passed pawn on c3 with surrounding tactics. After that Shawn mopped up efficiently.

Svitlana Demchenko had better placed pieces in the endgame and eventually broke through.

Hans Niemann is the top seed. Some how I thought he was too old.

        Me too.

It's an easy mistake to make if we think Carlsen's cheating accusation against Niemann in Sept 2022 was a mature response to an adult's misbehaviour.

        But it was neither.

Andy Woodward knocked out Hans Niemann in rd 3. I enjoyed the game, full of attacking moves.

The nitty-gritty is over. Yesterdays two rounds in one day. All the Canadian contestants are doing well. Shawn R-L 2.5 out of 3 and Jonathan Han with a great 2 out of 3, considering he lost only to a GM. Svitlana Demchenko also has 2.5 out of 3.

Painful losses for both Shawn and Svitlana in round 4.

After 5 Svitlana Demchenko is 14th with 3.5.
                    Shawn RL also has 3.5
Jonathan Han has 3 and needs to catch a break with the pairings. He keeps getting bumped up to GM's and then down to 1800's.

In rd 6 Shawn in a must win situation pulled it off brilliantly with two knights and a rook. Now he's pumped and ready to face Hans Niemann. Awesome!

The game was a draw. There were DGT board problems at one point, which were corrected about 20 minutes later.
