    CFC Standard Rating Adjustment

    Phase I

Bob Gillanders, CFC Executive Director (Post # 9, Tuesday, 2nd January, 2024, 10:43 AM)

We are starting (Wed., 24/1/3) on the shallow end of the pool, for those players rated 200-499 will have their ratings raised to 500.
This will include all players active in the last 2 years and will apply to both regular and quick ratings.
It will affect approximately 1,600 players.

Those affected immediately will be mostly quick rated juniors in junior clubs. But there should be a gentle cascade effect upwards thru the pool over time.

We will be monitoring the effect and feedback from the chess community.

    Phase II

In light of the March 1, 2024 FIDE Standard Rating Adjustment, across the board, does CFC have someone/some committee (Who? - Bob G?, CFC Rating Auditor [Don Parakin?]? CFC President, Vlad Drkulec?) tasked to review these changes, and whether to now deal with CFC rated members 500 & Over by some CFC Standard Rating Adjustment?

The USCF did an adjustment of their ratings as of 24/3/1 as well, to coordinate with the FIDE changes. I'm not sure what action other national bodies have taken.
