  • Interesting chess/baseball connection video

On the website of The New York Times (nytimes.com), there is an interesting video interview with New York Yankees' manager Joe Girardi, where he discusses the connections between chess and baseball with the Times' reporter. It's set in Yankee Stadium, with a lovely wooden chess table, set with classy pieces, and a clock, right on the field!! The reporter, William C. Rhoden, visits with Girardi as the two 'sort of' play a game of chess!! It's different!! :) :) :)

Mike Marshall, former star pitcher with the Expos, Dodgers, and other teams in the 1970s, was apparently quite a keen chess player. Not sure if he ever played competitively in rated events.
