Thanks Salim. Side events are interesting as many strong players come as media, coaches, or partners.

Interesting side event on rest day Aoril 8 will be the solar eclipse.

10 more days before prices go up (short window). To answer a recurring question, ACC will not have the discretion to extend the early bird period, the decisions are made by FIDE.

What are the rules/restrictions on taking photos?

I'm thinking a VIP pass might allow the bearer to fire a flash a few times in the eyes of any player under 2780!?

John, I think you, as CFC news editor, qualify to get a Press Pass. Apply on the website. And Globe columnist Cecil should also apply. Are there any other Canadian chess journalists?

Hi John, there will be no phones or electronics allowed for the General Public on the Playing Hall balcony as you can imagine.
However I agree with Erik, you can apply for a Press Pass with more access to the Candidates plus Press Conferences etc.: Accreditation (fide.com)

You would need a press pass for close access to the Candidates. For a press pass, you need to represent a news organization.

For those inquiring, Round 14 is completely sold out (GA and VIP). The only way to attend is through the purchase of a ticket General Admission - ALL ROUNDS (very few left). Round 13 is almost sold out, just a handful of tickets left.

Update on tickets: over 1,500 tickets have been sold for the event and some rounds are already sold out including Rounds 13 and 14. There are few VIP tickets left.

Also, the Chessbrah have kindly accepted to host the fan zone at the playing venue during the 14 rounds of the competition. They will organize games, events and more to keep the fan zone animated and vibrant during the competition.
