Wow! You guys continue to set the standard in this country.
Congratulations on getting Victor to come back and it is great to see Porper playing more after his great (co-)victory in the Open.
Out of interest, did you get provincial funding for this event?

This tournament is funded mostly by the Edmonton Chess Club who do fundraising, and are also tapped into provincial Casino revenues.

The ACA also provides some funding for this tournament as well, and are also tapped into provincial Casino revenues.

Casino revenues make up the greatest portion of our yearly budgets. The ACA also receives funding from the Alberta Sports Recreation Parks and Wildlife Foundation.

All of this was made possible by the hard work of a number of individuals in the past such as Ford Wong, John Quiring, Len Steele, and countless others.

Thank you Gordon! As Tony mentioned, the gist of the Edmonton International annual events funding is coming from the Edmonton Chess Club with some support from local chess players and some companies. Of course in comparison to the Canadian Open this tournament is really done on a relative shoe string budget but we do what we can!
