    Job Title: Youth Chess Coach

    Job Type: Part-Time, Year-Round, In-person

    Salary: Competitive, based on experience

    About Us: At Maverick Chess Club, we are dedicated to nurturing young minds and fostering a love for chess. We believe that chess is not just a game but a powerful tool for developing critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and emotional resilience. We are looking for a passionate and experienced Youth Chess Coach to join our team and inspire the next generation of chess enthusiasts.

    Job Description: As a Youth Chess Coach, you will be responsible for teaching chess to students of varying ages and skill levels, from beginners to advanced players. You will create a positive and engaging learning environment, develop lesson plans, and organize practice sessions and tournaments.

    Key Responsibilities:
    • Teach chess principles, strategies, and tactics to youth players.
    • Develop and implement lesson plans tailored to the skill levels of students.
    • Foster a positive and encouraging learning environment.
    • Provide individualized coaching to help students improve their skills.
    • Organize and supervise practice sessions and tournaments.
    • Promote good sportsmanship and a love for the game.
    • Communicate regularly with parents about their children's progress.
    • Stay updated with the latest trends and techniques in chess education.

    Qualifications:
    • Strong knowledge of chess, including strategies and tactics.
    • Previous experience in coaching or teaching chess to youth players.
    • Passionate about working with children and helping them grow.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to motivate and inspire students.
    • Patience and adaptability to work with students of different ages and skill levels.
    • Chess Federation of Canada (CFC) rating of 2000 or higher, or equivalent.
    • Certification from a recognized chess coaching program is a plus.
