I Just wanted to take a little bit of time to recap what was a fun, competitive, and exciting Atlantic Christmas Chess Festival at St. Mary's University in Halifax, Nova Scotia

The weather provided for a picturesque backdrop to the Christmas special and the venue at St. Mary's University (SMU) in Halifax was terrific- a special thanks again to the MBAN program from the Sobeys School of Business for generously providing this space for the Festival!! The raffle draw for the FIDE-standard-compliant, triple-weighted chess set was held before the start of the Open Championship as planned and a big congratulations to Dev Gupta for winning the prize!!!

A huge congratulations to all of the winners from all of the tournaments at the Atlantic Christmas Chess Festival- really well done!!! I would also like to extend a special thanks to everyone who helped support the festival along the way from those who enthusiastically helped with the raffle drawings for both the early-bird prize and Bughouse Championship random pairings; to the local arbiters who helped corroborate the results between rounds of the Blitz Championship, to the kind parent who went on my behalf to but candy for everyone at the latter stages of the festival- you all helped the it run better and made it extra special for everyone!!!

Seeing everyone coming together and enjoying chess at Christmas-time, as well as spending time with each other doing so is the best part of the holidays and the most rewarding thing in being an arbiter and organizer and I hope there can be many more such events to come!

Merry Christmas to all from a bright and snowy Halifax!:)
                      Daniel
