    This tournament is jointly organized by Scarborough Chess Club (SCC) and Chess4win, with the proceeds being used to support the continued development of SCC.

    Dates: Starts on Friday, March 14th, 2025@6:30 pm

    Location: 730 Cochrane Dr #1,Markham ( Duncan Academy , spacious place with free Wi-Fi , indoor badminton court and table tennis room)

    Eligibility: CFC membership required

    Rating: Sections will be determined using the highest of CFC or FIDE rating. All sections will be CFC rated. O1900 will also be FIDE rated.

    Registration: Online registration(Click This Link) ends on March 13th at 11:00 PM. No on-site registration will be accepted.

    Capacity: 150 players

    Time Control: 90 minutes + 30 seconds a move

    Format: 5 Rounds Swiss (CFC regular rated)

    Section: O1900; U1900; U1500

    Schedule:

    Round 1: Friday, March 14th, 6:30 pm

    Round 2: Saturday, March 15th, 10:00 am

    Round 3: Saturday, March 15th, 4:00 pm

    Round 4: Sunday, March 16th, 10:00 am

    Round 5: Sunday, March 16th, 4:00 pm

    The default forfeit time for any game is 30 min

    Entry Fees: $90 before March 1st; $110 before March 9th; Regular is $130/entry. $20 off for SCC members. Free entry for players with a CFC regular rating over 2200 or FIDE regular rating over 2000. Players aged 60 and above with a CFC rating of 1600 or higher are also eligible for free entry. Limited to 10 spots. Please pay the entry fee via email transfer at chess4winofficial@gmail.com

    Playing up: Add $20 if playing up. A player must be within 100 points of the rating floor for the section they wish to play up in.

    Byes: Single half point bye in rounds 1-4 if requested before or during the tournament; zero points byes are allowed for round 5; All bye requests must be emailed to chess4winofficial@gmail.com

    Prizes:
    • O1900:$300-$200-$100 Plus Championship Trophy and Medals
    • U1900: $250-$100 Plus Championship Trophy and Medals
    • U1500: $200-$100 Plus Championship Trophy and Medals
    • Prize money is split between winners in case of a tie. Additional prizes may be added based on the number of entries. The organizers reserve the right to modify prizes based on the final number of paid entries.
    Tiebreak Rules: 1) Direct encounter 2) Buchholz 3) Greater number of victory 4) sum of the rating of opponent

    Special Notes: The organizer will supply all chess pieces, chess boards, and clocks.

    Cancellation Fees: A $10 processing fee will be applied for any cancellation prior to March 9th. After March 9th, no refunds will be given.
