Rd 1 Keymer vs Wei Yi is high class entertainment and I'm thoroughly enjoying it. Keymer castled by hand just to get started and then played an incredibly long combo to win an exchange for a pawn but it seemed to me unclear. However White's rooks got active and seemed close to checkmating the black king, but always one square short. The game has now entered the endgame with White up the exchange with R+B and pawn vs B+N and pawn with holding chances, but apparently White has seen deeper and the black king is in trouble.

Update: Keymer wins. What a game!

Sam Shankland found a breakthrough winning the bishop on d7 but then had to defend against the raging queen. However at the end Black's position collapsed. Big first round win for Shankland!

Rd 1 Chithambaran vs Nguyen played shuffleboard for 62 moves before Black played an interesting breakthrough. However short of time and at the point when the game was really interesting Black bailed out with a perpetual.

David Navara played well to hold the draw as Black against Pragga.

Rd 2 Keymer got a shock in the opening and you could say he was strategiccally lost, even tho it was only a pawn. Sure enough his opponent, Chithambaran, went for the endgame. Key mer tried some high stepping moves but they turned out they just secured the loss. Another top Indian star to pay attention to.

and the other games - were they uneventful draws? Not at all. Sam Shankland defended resourcefully and is tied for the lead with Chitambaran after two rounds with 1.5.

Rd 3 Big ouch for Sam Shankland, co-leader. He mishandled the endgame against Keymer and went down to connected passed pawns on the seventh.

Rd 2 Big shock of the tournament Chitambaran crunches Wei Yi! Checkmate ends the game (threat of). Chitambaran is all alone now in first place!

Rd 3 Pragga finally gets to unwind against Nguyen. A rare case where triple pawns are decisive. Pragga wins and is now tied for second with Keymer.

Rd 4 In the battle for second place Keymer seemed confused on the white side of a French and Pragga put him to rest. Pragga is now tied for first as Chitambaran drew with Shankland,
