Rd 8 Pragga also draws so Chitambaran leads by half a point going into the last round.

Rd 8 Shankland desperately tried to attack but his king turned out to be much more unsafe and he lost to Giri.

Rd 9 Giri played the role of tournament spoiler in the last round as he beat Pragga in a fireworks game. Pragga started the complications with a piece sacrifice (Nxe5) but Giri gave it back at the right time starting his own attack. The move that impressed me the most was not Bxf7+ but a later 35.Bd4 which stopped Black's continued attack. Several exclam moves in that game.

That meant Chitambaran only needed a draw to clinch tournament win and he did so fairly comfortably although White was better almost all the way. A humorous part of the game was the moving of Chitambaran's rook from a8 to a7 and back at least five times with an intense signalling of the willingness for a draw.

The last game to finish and its still going on six hours later is Nguyen - Keymer. Keymer played the Marshall Gambit (signs of Leko's help) but couldnt quite find the right role for the dominant white squared bishop. Nguyen forced his passed C-pawn to the seventh and Keymer has had to walk a tightrope for the last half of the game to try and save it. Nguyen has missed a couple of computer wins so far but the fans are getting their entertainment as the game approaches 100 moves.

                Ends up a draw.
