  • Atlantic Spring Chess Tour

    I am thrilled and excited to announce that the Atlantic Spring Chess Tour will be starting soon on April 5!!! The first event will be a multi-section Rapid Championship in Fredericton, New Brunswick and the tour will run from April 5-20, with multiple tournaments and Festivals set to take place in all 4 Atlantic provinces- New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, and Newfoundland and Labrador

    An exciting update to pass along about the St. John's Spring Chess Festival- Open Championship: the top section will be FIDE-rated for those looking to get some FIDE-rated games in!

      Thanks Daniel! As far as I know if may be the first FIDE rated tournament in NL ever or at least in a long time.

        Chris White Apologies for the late reply. Awesome- it's been a long time coming then and I would be happy to be the first to organize one!:) This should give some of the stronger players in the Open Championship from Newfoundland and Labrador a chance to get some more FIDE-rated games in, and hopefully, get FIDE-rated soon!

          We are just a couple of short days away now from the beginning of the Atlantic Spring Chess Tour this Saturday, April 5, starting with the Fredericton Spring Rapid Championship!! The Moncton Spring Rapid and Blitz Championships will follow on the next day Sunday, and the tour will continue with a Rapid Championship in Summerside on Wednesday, April 9. If you haven't done so already, sign up soon and don't miss out!

            One weekend of fun and exciting events now in the books with this past weekend's Fredericton Spring Rapid Championship and Moncton Spring Rapid and Blitz Championships now complete!

            In the Fredericton Spring Rapid Championship Open Section, the winners were: 1st place- NM Ian Martinovsky finishing with a perfect score of 5/5!; 2nd place- NM Jason Manley; and 3rd place- a 3-way tie between Andreas Doemer, Ruffy Tangoan, and Matt Kelly

            In the Fredericton Spring Rapid Championship Junior Section, the winners were: 1st place- Raphael Jon Tangoan, 2nd place- Johann Riley Tangoan, and 3rd place- Harrod Doemer

            In the Moncton Spring Rapid Championship Open Section, the winners were: 1st place- Titan Dunahee, 2nd place- Harold Castillo, and 3rd place- a 2-way tie between Han Zhang and Philippe Cliche

            The next round of exciting events to come will be the Summerside Spring Rapid Championship held tomorrow evening, and the Halifax Spring Chess Festival set to start this Friday afternoon. For those of you who haven't registered yet, hurry and don't miss out on the fun and excitement! Registrations will be accepted up to and including the day of the events. Register ahead of time and avoid paying on-site registration fees

            An important note to pass along about the Halifax Spring Chess Festival is the change in venue to Saint Mary's University, as can be seen in the updated flyers

              A fun and exciting evening at the Wilmot Community Centre where the Summerside Spring Rapid Championship took place tonight!

              In the Summerside Spring Rapid Championship Open Section, the winners were: 1st place- Fred Mckim finishing with a perfect score of 5/5!; and tying for 2nd and 3rd place- Anthony Banks and Aidan Arsenault

                The Halifax Spring Chess Festival is under way with one round remaining in a tight and exciting Open Championship!!

                Last night, the Halifax Spring Chess Festival Rapid Championship featured 2 competitive and spirited sections battling it out- an Open section Swiss, and a Junior section double-round-robin

                In the Open Section, the winners were: 1st place- Sriram Sarja; 2nd place- Louis Fillmore, and 3rd place- Chris Felix

                In the Junior Section, the winners were: 1st place- Aden Yip; 2nd Place- Dhyey Sarja; and 3rd place- Harrod Doemer

                  The Halifax Spring Chess Festival- Open Championship came to a conclusion at the end of this past weekend. It was a tight contest that went down to the last round in both the Crown and U1700 Sections

                  In the Crown Section, the winners were: 1st place- with a perfect score of 5/5(!) Kyle Creamer; 2nd place- Louis Fillmore; and 3rd place- a 3-way tie between Calix Marchand, Michelle Zhang, and Brian hang

                  In the U1700 Section, the winners were: 1st place- Bern Langen; 2nd place- Kaleb Wells; and 3rd place- a 2-way tie between Eva Norovsambuu and Aakash Agam
