In the women's Zlata Butenko's great start came to an end against the experienced Morgen Mills. However basic endgame knowledge would have allowed her to draw a tough rook and pawn endgame.

After 3 rounds three! still have perfect scores. Olena Kucherenko, Yunshan Li, Morgen Mills, have won all of their first three games.

After round 4 the buzz of the tournament must be the performance of Tymur Keleberda. He played great strategic chess against GM Razvan Preotu and hamstrung Razvan's knights with his passed rook pawn and active rook in the endgame. Once his king got into the game Razvan gave up.

I wont be reporting the women's round by round. Two many discrepancies between official results, lichess results and what I see from following the live games.

Rd 4 Ryan Yang nice combo in the early middlegame and finishing with a checkmating attack against Mark Plotkin.

Rd 4 Koosha Jaferian forced Shawn RL into a queen and pawn endgame and hung tough but Shawn's passed pawn eventually decided.

Nikolay Noritsyn played a deciding exchange sacrifice against David Cummings and his long diagonal threats were too much.

Bator Sambuev and Mike Ivanov both played stellar games to win.

Rd 5 Tymur Keleberda held a draw against GM Bator in round 5 to stay tied for the lead at the half. WoW!

That allowed GM Shawn and Nikolay Noritsyn to catch up into a tie for first.

IM Raymond Kaufman's checkmating attack against Leo Liu might be the game of round 5.

No live games for round 6, as far as I can tell. The start-time is 10.00 am, right?
