  • Hal Bond's Induction to the Canadian Chess Hall of Fame

    Congratulations to Hal Bond who was inducted into the Canadian Chess Hall of Fame for 2025. The induction ceremony took place on Monday, April 21 at the Canadian Closed before the morning round. Special thanks to Heidi Gay for coordinating the event and being the Master of Ceremonies. Salim Belcadi, the main organizer of the 2025 Canadian Closed who cooperated and helped this process. Lastly to Derek Ma, for his excellent photos, capturing this ceremony.

        Ah... of course. Amazing that Facebook just says the page cannot be found - no indication that the user (me) has to be logged in to FB.
        Yet another confirmation that ditching FB was the right move... :)

            I haven't been here for weeks, but I belatedly want to express my hearty congratulations to Hal for his tremendous career as an International Arbiter, a Lecturer for the FIDE Arbiters' Commission, and representing Canada at FIDE for decades! On a more personal note, thank you Hal for all the support and insights you provide to so many Canadian arbiters, you have inspired so many of us!
