Rd 1 is complete. All four games were endgames much to my delight. Ivanchuk made a big statement massaging Ray Robson (25 years his junior) for 110 moves although it ended a draw. Richard Rapport played an amazing endgame showing Erwin L'Ami, who is an endgame expert, some tricks. Sindarov sacked the exchange and used his two bishops and a passed E pawn against Tan Zhongyi to create unbearable pressure.

Rd 2 Ivanchuk another 100 move game! My goodness! but this time he was defending all the way. Tan Zhongyi sacrificed a pawn and the exchange but couldnt quite make headway with her attack. Her opponent Erdogmus romped in the endgame. Compared to those two games the other two were quite uneventful.

Rd 3 Again four endgames (oh what bliss!) The big news was that Rapport lost to Tan. Evidently he tried too hard to win a drawn endgame.

Rd 3. Ivanchuk only played fifty moves this time and he lost to Grandelius. (oh, those dastardly inbetween moves. The zwishenzug strikes again!

Rd 4 The shocking news is that both Ivanchuk and Rapport have lost back to back games. Rapport survived to the endgame but then got outplayed by Erdogmus. Im not sure what happened to Ivanchuk. His opponent Tan sacked a piece but on move 28 the game was over. Did Ivanchuk lose on time? I didnt see a convincing win for Tan.
Sindarov clearly outplayed L'Ami and the endgame was a decisive win for Sindarov.

Rd 5 Rapport and Ivanchuk played each other. Rapport started a combination with 19.Nc5. Its not cleat that Ivanchuk had to go into the forcing line and the rest of the game was a combination with Ivanchuk losing a rook in the end.

Last round round 7 Grandelius was the only win against Tan and moved into a tie for second.

Sindarov won the tournament. No surprise as he was second highest rated and over 2700. He stayed solid and won two games as well as being undefeated. Rapport was highest rated but he lost two endgames and that kept him at an equal score. Robson surprisingly had all draws. And Ivanchuk finished last but not for lack of fighting spirit. I enjoyed all the endgames.
