In Celebration of Canada Day & School Summer Break
Young Chess Stars Shine Bright Across All Sections!

The recent chess tournament held in honor of Canada Day and the start of the school summer break was a tremendous success! The U8, U10, and U12 sections saw fierce competition, with each champion finishing with a perfect 5/5 score — a true show of skill, composure, and determination. The Open section, however, proved to be a battleground of titans, where even 4.5/5 wasn’t quite enough to clinch the title.

          All section winners received:
          • An International Chess Set
          • A Personal Chess Clock
          • A $25 Planet Laser Coupon
          • A $40 free entry to an upcoming EM Tournament

          U8 Champion: Swain, Harshil

Harshil displayed maturity far beyond his years. Calm, composed, and laser-focused, he dominated the U8 category with quiet confidence.
          U10 Champion: Nikul, Siddharth

Remember the name — Siddharth Nikul is here to stay.
A deep thinker at the board and an energetic spirit off it, he danced through the tournament with joyful enthusiasm. Ahaan, who finished second, gave him a strong challenge, but Siddharth held his ground and emerged victorious.
          U12 Champion: Garikapati, Tejas Avyan

Confident and methodical, Tejas worked through his opponents with clinical precision. His most challenging matches came from Evan Wu (2nd place) and Prasann Vivaan (3rd), but Tejas held steady to finish unbeaten.
Open Section: A Battle to Remember

While no one in the Open Section secured a perfect score, the games were nothing short of thrilling.

Nazil Patel finished at the top with 4.5/5. After four dominant wins, he faced a formidable challenge in the final round against Sanal Kumar. In a complex endgame with a pawn and knight vs. bishop, Nazil pushed for victory but was held to a theoretical draw.

Harshel Patel and Sanal Kumar tied for second, proving the depth of talent in this open field.

Congratulations to all participants, and thank you for making this Canada Day celebration one to remember. We look forward to seeing even more brilliant play in the next EM Tournament!
