2025 CANADIAN INTERGENERATIONAL CHESS CHALLENGE ♟

~ Celebrate FIDE Social Chess Year '25 ~

    Hi Everyone,
I hope you all are having an amazing and restful summer!

We are excited to announce that we are partnering with Chess4Win to host the 2025 Canadian Intergenerational Chess Challenge (CIGCC) on August 10. In this event, juniors (representing Chess for Connection) will be paired against seniors (representing the Geriatric Weekend Warriors' Society (80+)) in two rated matches. This is not only a great opportunity to challenge yourself (as we have quite a strong pool of senior players), but also a unique opportunity to socialize and encourage our senior chess community to keep on playing!

There will be a Junior Qualifier rapid on August 9, where the top 4 players in each section will earn the right to play in the CIGCC. It would be awesome if you could come out and support this special event, as well as share this with other players

Join us as a JUNIOR: https://chess4win.jumbula.com/2025Ra...CHESSCHALLENGE

Join us as a SENIOR (contact Bob Armstrong): https://forum.chesstalk.com/forum/ch...ors-society-80

Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions. We hope to see you there!

Is there a limited number of boards?
Do seniors who are no longer CFC members have to pay a $20 CFC rating fee?
is there a cost for lunch, and will there be vegetarian options?
is there a space where smokers can go during their game?
is there a place where seniors can nap during lunch?
i assume that the site is wheel chair accesible.

      Hi Erik, great questions!

      1. We will have 12 boards (if you are interested, please contact Bob Armstrong through the Geriatric Weekend Warriors' Society (80+) thread)
      2. Yes, seniors need to pay $20 for a one-time tournament
      3. The game starts after noon. Snacks and refreshments will be provided between the rounds
      4. Smokers should be able to smoke outside the building (we will confirm with owners)
      5. Unfortunately, we do not have a designated area for seniors to nap
      6. Yes, the venue is wheelchair accessible!
